I hate coons, UPDATE #52 got'em!

Quote:
Ok I need to make one of those..I guess I need a door also the only door to my coop right now is a real door.. Your daughter is SO cute I could watch the video again just to watch her! Vanna White look out!

This is the biggest thing I can not accept, its one thing to eat what you kill another to just kill for the pleasure of it.

I feel exactly the same way. I lost nine hens two weeks ago in broad daylight to a hungry momma fox. Feeding her babies and all that stuff aside... When I walked through picking up bodies and realized she had only actually eaten four out of the nine she killed.........

That is what is totally unacceptable...

I really hope you get your coons. I had no luck catching my fox. I guess she is like they say-a sly fox. I hope your attackers meet an end. Please update when you get them. There needs to be justice!! Wish I was there to watch.

Justice? Ummm, sorry, no, not in my view.

It is not wrong for a coon or fox or whatever to kill a chicken. It is the nature of a coon or fox, or a person, for that matter. It is also not wrong for the person to kill the coon or fox.

But there is no justice involved. It is just the balance of nature. Living things eat other living things. It is not about revenge. It is about food.

well still no coon. But I cant say that I put in any effort yesterday, my DS has been quite sick and that has been my focus. The ducks are still living in the garage where it is safe and they can heal with out distractions, and the chooks are locked in real tight at night. Hopefully tonight I will have the energy and time to eal with this. I will also post pics later but keep forgetting to charge my camera.

You are right to an extent, and I do understand your comment about food. That is why I understand why a mama fox would kill to feed her babies. But I don't agree with you that that is what it is all about. It isn't completely about food when they kill so many hens and just leave them lay. It really is a sport. Kind of like when my cat catches a mouse. Believe me, it has absolutely nothing to do with food...

I do agree with you mostly on the balance of nature, and it sort of makes me laugh how balanced it is. With all the fence in the world, predators still figure out ways around. With traps and guns, predators still figure out how not to get caught and shot.

But the justice comment I made was a bit tongue-in-cheek. That is why I put that neat little popcorn smiley thing on there. But thank you. I will be more careful to present my comments in a straightforward manner.

And to the mad duck mama, I am so sorry. I really do understand your frustration and loss. Sure hope those in the garage are healing up well.

Good luck with whatever route you choose!

SO SORRY..... TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS, BUT LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID, YOUR LOSS HELPS OTHERS LIKE ME TO NOT ASSUME OR MAKE AN ASSUMPTIONS, ABOUT THE SAFETY OF OUR TWO LEGGED TEASTY PETS.

My neighbors just came to visit and told me they are feeding about 14 coons in their yard!!! Yikes! Something tried to dig under my coop the other day and I blamed my dog because he was laying by the hole. He is a heard dog, maybe I blamed him unjustly. Maybe he saved my chicks (or, maybe not). Today I am putting a floor in my coop.

sorry been so busy. Just finished the electric fence last night with Don and the ducks are back in their pen and all safe now. will post pics later. the scalped duckling and wounded adult both are healing well with no infections

the buggers were to smart for the trap and I was to tired to set up plan B so I will this upcoming week. In the meantime I am satisfied knowing they must have gotten the Jolt of their lives last night when the tried for the ducks and triggered the hot wire
