i hate foxes!!!!

They WERE in our state, they are off the list now. But it's hit or miss in the rest of the country. I know FL also you can't kill gray foxes. Plus, we are now talking gray fox vs red fox. Grays are more protected.

It's the standard practice. If you aren't killing raccoons, standard skunks or opposums, you are best to check your state laws on killing them. Since I don't know the state of the OP, I'm saying check the laws before you go fox killing.

In the end, if the area backing up to your property is deemed a good area for wildlife release, you need to improve the run and coop. You will NEVER kill all the predators. So either make a safe coop and run, or expect losses.

You can't have an unsecure coop/run and have no losses.

I live in NC. Fox laws are very strange here and vary, county to county, governed by local laws. But the laws pertain mostly to trapping and selling of furs. There is a season for hunting fox with firearms. It runs sometime in the winter.
North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission is trying to change the fox laws. They want folks to be able to trap them anytime of the year. The reason is because coyotes are now confirmed in all 100 NC counties. Coyotes are not part of the original ecosystem here and they are becoming quite a nuisance (as they are everywhere else I guess). Anyways, they want folks to be able to trap coyotes and we can't, because the trap set for coyotes is the same for fox. Clear as mud.

By the way, neither red or grays are "protected" by state or local protected species lists. They are considered game animals. There are just closed seasons on them and laws concerning manner of taking them.
