PurpleChicken
Rest in Peace 1970-2018

I have heard they are very broody and are good setters. My hen isn't even laying
so she isn't much proof of that. I can put her in with my 3 week old chicks and
she won't hurt them. My standard hens try to eat the chicks.
To be completely serious (only for a second) about them being mean,
they are sorta like lapdogs. They are moody but not aggressive. I
have really loved sitting with mine and just petting them. They are very
calm, soft, and furry. .....Getting to me.....Must resist.......
My silkies grew up with my standard hens, all 7 months old. They act different,
like they are better than the hens. They stick to themselves.
They will be fine with your kids. Standard roosters are the real threat.
Silkies don't harm the innocent. They have a covenant with higher powers that
only allow them to harm adult, and not so innocent people like me and you.
They will get under your skin like those bugs in the Mummy movies.
Just look in their eyes.... They will posess you....
