I HATE SQUIRRELS! AND THEY ARE NOT CUTE!

A squirrel is basically RAT with a bushy tail... I dump 50lbs of corn about 100 yards away from my house in the woods about every 3 months and I find that this keeps them away from my garden and fruit trees, It also keeps the big redtail hawk that hangs around busy.....He seems to love squirrel. more than chicken. and it's easy pickens for him on a corn pile.

I HATE them too! For years they were the bane of my garden. I had a colony of ground squirrels living in an embankment behind my back wall. At first they just climbed up the bricks to help themselves to a meal. They would pull out a fruit or veggie and take ONE BITE, and then set it down and grab another. Finally they all got so fat that they dug a "super highway" tunnel all over my back yard down to their embankment nest so that they wouldn't have to bother with climbing the wall anymore. They destroyed the root systems of my well established plants and killed my passionfruit vines!

I finally started trapping them and I was getting one a day for over a month and I thought that I had killed them all since I didn't see them anymore, but I just found out from a neighbor who works for the city that they have been poisoning them. Apparently our neighborhood was besieged by them, not just me, and someone's dog got very sick with some strange disease after it bit one so they decided to do something for public health reasons.

They aren't cute when chewing holes in the chicken coop either.
The .308 fixed that problem.

I hate rats, mice, mean people and GOATS. Squirrels are just rats with a fluffy tail. They are cute though. Well, and so is a goat.

they eat chicken food and eggs... i had to deconstruct the ladder leading to the nest boxes becuase i wasnt getting a single egg cuase of them.... last year i came to the barn and saw one of my free range moms running and screaming chasing something as fast as she could and i saw it was a sqriuell with one of her chicks, with my help, the chick was released unharmed

the broodies in the lower coop fly from their nests and do ariel attacks on the sqruiells,
i think im gunna buy a live trap

Until someone mentioned that squirrels eat wood, I had forgotten about the huge eaten board in my potting shed. Last year we saw them running up the apple tree stealing apples. It is an old apple tree and we had never seen that before.

If there is reincarnation, I hope that Uncle Walt comes back as a fanatical gardener on the edge of woods and is visited every night by Bambi and Gentle Ben. AND their grandchildren too! Geez, I feel so much better.
