I have 4 rhode island red hens all of whom seem totally healthy in every way except.....

    Except that they have no down and hardly ant feathers covering their chests and bellies. The feathers that are there are matted together with something like they are constantly wet. They don't look sick nor are they acting sick. It's winter and I was shocked because when I picked up one of them today I was expecting to see soft downy and lots of feathers not bare skin with a few feathers all matted together! I checked and all 4 are the same way.
