I have a feeling they were sold as the wrong breed...

I bought two EE chicks last spring, and they both lay brown eggs. It’s a good thing they are cute and so friendly-we forgive them for not laying green eggs. :love

Easter eggers are not a real breed. They don't have a standard and can't be pure. Their leg color, and beard and muffs or lack thereof, do not matter. They can lay green, blue, brown, and occasionally pink, as well as any teal shade between green and blue. AmerAUcanas have a standard of perfection, and standardized colors. Their eggs will ALWAYS be some shade of blue- no brown there. Americanas are easter eggers, and so is any other misspelling of ameraucana.

That hen is very much a EE. Coloring, beard muff, pea comb, and green legs say of all features. They don’t have to lay green or blue eggs. They can lay pink, brown or white.

the hen pictured looks like my Ethel she is an araucana x spangled Hamburg.. ( see picture of my Ethel)
