I HAVE A PIP! Silkied Ameraucanas & Wheaton Marans, New Picts 2-6.

/derail on.

Kathy, I'm only trying to nip debates about if they are crosses or not in the bud so they don't derail other threads about hatching.

We should keep all debates on their heritage in the threads that are about their heritage - esp. when we can see how those have turned out in the past with name calling and hurt feelings.

The birds are what they are - and we don't know 100% what that is yet. I personally believe they are a lucky mutation and not a direct Silkie x Ameraucana cross and as such shouldn't be lumped in with those same crosses - as Tanichca was questioning.

I chose to give her a link to all the information that we have on them rather than 're-open' that debate in your thread as it appeared they were not familiar with the story of these birds.

/derail off... back to pictures of the cute babies!!

What beautiful babies! Your photos are great!

May I ask where you got the wheaten maran eggs? Also, I notice some of the chicks have obvious darker coloring.. does this indicate sex-linked characteristics in this breed?

Congrats on your new brood!

Kathyinmo - definitely post pics on those Silkied Ameraucanas as they grow. I'm very interested to see what they look like. They are certainly uber cute at the moment!
