I have a question about this...

She says she doesn't know the breed but can find out. They are bred for show only from what she told me. I'm going to try to post the pictures I have but I've never posted pictures to a forum so we'll see how that goes.

This does sound fishy, if they are show birds.... shouldnt she know what breed?

and i second the loud crow... and its not just in the morning... its ALL DAY

Most bantams are around 1 lb or 2 lbs...give or take, so they are likely bantams. As for crowing, he'll crow....a lot. Our neighbor had a bantam roo that would crow quite a bit and it was high pitched. We always got a kick out of his crow.

Roos are a blast. but they definitely aren't quiet. Hens aren't quiet either, but not as loud as roos.

Since you are looking for your first chickens I think you could do better with birds from someone more reliable. Where do you live? Maybe there are other BYC members in your area with chickens available for you.

Even standard-breed chickens can look like that when they're young, fully feathered but still small, though with a lot of growing ahead to do. And bantam roosters can crow as much & as loud as larger breeds, and often with a more shrill and annoying tone.

I wish you success & enjoyment with whatever you get!
