Hii, this is the first time i post here.

So i have a fairly large coop in out back yard and we have a decent amount of chickens, recently my grandmother gave me her turkey and its poult for a while, today she had to take the turkey back and left the poult in my care, its prertty chilly out here and i couldn't leave the poult in the chicken coop at a young age, so i took it indoors, in my room to be presice . I have 3 cockatiels and two parakeets with me in my room too, is it ok to keep the poult with me and the birds or is it bad for its health, plus i need some tips on to how to raise a poult , thank you

It's not usually good idea to keep turkey poults with chickens, as they can contract blackhead, a deadly disease that is passed by chickens. Some people mix the two species and manage fine, it's all up to you what you decide... larger turkeys are not very susceptible.

Welcome to BYC! I don't know anything about turkeys but someone will surely come along who does. They will want to know the age of the poult, and where you live/what the climate is like, so they could best advise you.
Good luck, Sue

Your chickens can't pass blackhead to your turkeys if they don't have it. That's why some people, like me, can keep chickens with turkeys.

My chickens are very much older than my poult, they're about a year old and the poult is about 4 weeks old give or take a few days, and thank you for the advice!
