I have a silkie I thought was a dominant white, but he started getting beige in the wing tips, back, neck and a few buffy looking pin feathers at the base of his tail. He also recently got a black feather on his wing. And now there's 2 buff looking feathers in his wings.

My theory is that his dad was buff and mom was paint.
(As a noob in color genetics) here's why I think so:
He's mainly white, so he might’ve gotten the white from mom, and he might have the beige/buff color from his dad and maybe the single black feather came from paint mom??

The silkies they had (the chick's parents flock) were dark blue and buff roos and the hens were 2 paints, some blue partridge I think, and sort of buff with something darker mixed in.

Dominant white is leaky when it comes to gold-based colors like red and buff, and when only one copy is present it often lets flecks of black through as well, so yes, you could be correct about the parents. Paint is genetically one copy of dominant white on an otherwise black Silkie, so the chick would still have dominant white as you initially assumed.

Most cockerels have red leakage, if he has buff in him, it could very well be a cockerel.
Yeah, I kind of assumed he was a cockerel becouse of his size and wide comb. This year I emotionally prepared myself for most chicks to be cockerels, so that when one will be a pullet I could celebrate lol
