I have an idea- callin g all BYC regulars...

I already do this...primarily in the duck and quail section.

I have noticed that more than one "I don't like this place" post is by someone who wants instant gratification. I lurked for quite a while before I joined and tried to educate myself first. THEN I asked questions I couldn't find answers to after actively searching.

I think I really help by not posting to these people to grow up, put on their big girl panties and deal with it even though I really really want to

Ummm...I hate to say this but....WHAT is the "unanswered post button"? I feel like a goof that I've never noticed this feature - where is it? I usually just hit the "recent posts" button at the top and look at the first page.....

Oh thank you thank you I was waiting for some one to ask that!

This might have been answered and I just missed it so sorry if I am repeating but the unanswered post button is at the bottom of the index page. Scroll all the way down and you will see 4 choices one is unanswered posts, another is subscribed posts, one is your recent posts, I forget the other but anyway its at the very bottom on the left of your screen.

I try to do this too; because I have asked questions before and not had an answer and it just fades into the sunset, so I know how it feels. Even if nothing else, it might bump it up to where someone who really has the answer will see it and help them out also.

Gosh, if I were to not like a forum, I'd just leave and not come back. Nobody gets upset. Why post negative feedback and gripe? I don't get it.

I think the same thing Buff but I wanted to be a part of this site so much and when I did get brave enough to post I was not quite as savvy about how things work and all the features and I did get some snippy comments and some hurtful ones. I am not a very thick skinned person. I always want to see the good in people and I get my feelings hurt easily. I AM WORKING ON THIS. It is not really a good thing. I just want everyone to get as much joy from chickens as I do sometimes I want this too much. I considered not coming back at first but Debi Raymond told me to give it another shot and not give up over a few nasty apples. She was right and I am better for it now.

Edit: I have also learned how forums work and the things not to talk about like politics and religion and Ameraucanas LOL. No seriously I learned that it is not always necessary to defend so much. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and it don't always have to be the same as mine. Some people feel they need to defend to the end so to speak.

If I do not know the answer - I usually admit it in the post, or state that I have no experience yet (cause we all will if we have chickens long enough) - I then say I have read about others on here and then suggest the search link. I try and also tell them where to find the indepth search vs. the google box search. (ya know - the search link in the upper left, blue bar, just above your logged in name)

Me too. This was the first and only forum I've ever participated in, so I needed a long time to figure out how to word questions and make friends.
