Hi Folks.

I have not read all the postings in this thread, but I wanted to say a couple of things, in case they have gone unsaid thus far.

Firstly, if you get shingles (aka. herpes varicella-zooster), or even suspect you are coming down with it...see you doc that day! It is imperative to get on oral anti-virals within the first 2-3 days! Your doc will Rx acyclovir, valcyclovir, or famvir. This can make all the difference in the world when it comes to post-herpetic neuralgia, the painful aftermath, which can somethings become debilitating and chronic. Also...if your out-break is on the face, make sure you see your eye doc. If you get the viral keratitis sequelae, and it goes untreated, it can blind you in that eye.

So sorry to hear about you and your daughter. The same thing happened with my mom and me. She got shingles and I got chicken pox from her for the second time in my life at the age of 16. Such a pain....hope you both feel better soon!
