ouch!!..i have heard that they really hurt like heck cause they run in your nerve lines...they usually start on your torso area..its the chicken pox you had as a kid (or whenever) re-surfaciing...they can come back several times during your life also!...

Rest easy! I had the shingles when I was about 37 years old and it hit on my right upper forehead to right eye....boy, its PAINFUL for two weeks! To this day, I still have the pain whenever my stress level is very high or high brometer pressure going on.

When my first doc diagnose the shingles, all he said was I got the herpes and didnt explain any further because he was in a hurry. My first thought was to my boyfriend (now hubby) and I thought what the h^^^ has HE been with????????? Man, I was sore for a while until the next visit to my second doctor and she explained to me that its not the SAME herpes as sexual transmitted one but a chicken pox virus resurfacing. Boy I felt so bad about my bf and I was so sorry for putting him thru it because it was all a misunderstanding on my part. Poor guy had to endure my question of his faithfulness during our relationship....he denied being with anyone nor have any intentions of meeting anyone. Jeez, it was BAD but now we laugh it off and let folks know that the shingles is NOT the sexual transmitted disease LOL!

Just take some aspirin and rest! Its no longer old folk's disease, it strikes at any age and anyday!

Aww! The only thing to say is 'You poor little muffin!'.

My DD had shingles when she was 10 or so. Weird, cuz it's usually just an adult thing.

If your kids haven't been immunized, they can get chicken pox from you. Although, from what I know about the immunization, they can get them even if they have. I refused it with my kids.

My best friend didn't get them when she was a child, so she caught them from my DD when she had shingles. Then one of her kids got them too. No biggie for the kids, but she was sick SICK with them.


btw, I was thinking of you on Friday of last week when I was driving up the gorge and got stuck on the freeway, then re-routed through hood river because of that fire. I knew that you and at least one other from BYC were in the area.

My very same DD with the shingles just commented on how much she likes that I start this post by saying "the only thing to say is.... " then continue to say a WHOLE bunch of stuff.

I feel for you! I have had them a couple of times and the DR. says it is when your body is highly stressed or fighting something else that you may get them. I have Lupus so that explains mine . I will get them before a flare up with the Lupus. Take care and try to rest your body!

Antique, I have a positive ANA, but DRs are not sure what that means. I wonder if that contributed to getting the shingles infection? Maybe my immune system is down?

ibpboo, my daughter is 4. I don't feel the Autism diagnosis is a bad thing. I'm actually glad we know what is going on for her more now. I think there has been stress, though, to deal with her behaviors as they can be pretty frustrating for our whole family sometimes.

Okay, I really am going to try sleeping again. WHY IS IT SO DARN PAINFUL????
