I have to talk POLISH!

If I have chicks that are easy to sex, I have no problem determining the route to go. And so far it have been easy to rehome other male chicks but it sure can be a problem to have too many males if you have limited space and can not find some one who is willing to take them.

There is a big local poultry show scheduled for next week-end. Gee would it be wonderful to find some gorgeous bantam Polish at an affordable price. There is a good Polish breeder nearby and all of my bantam Polish are from her (

Tricia ) but what fun to find another source. I am impressed at the size egg that bantam Polish lay. However I have never had a LF Polish. I wonder ????????

Flower, my LF Polish are all sweet. I started into chickens wanting Jersey Giants and Polish, and they are still my first choice. I pick up and kiss my Polish hens frequently. They don't mind, LOL

Lol Semi I do too, no wonder I'm known as the crazy chicken lady. As of now I only have bantams but I did have some LF Polish a few months ago and they were just as sweet ^^

Polish are hard to sex. I think my last year's batch, I couldn't tell til 10 weeks or more. Sometimes you get a few that are easy , and then there's those who keep you fooled right up till they crow or lay an egg.
Post the pictures here, with all of us guessing, there's a 50/50 chance we'll be right.

I'll go out and take pictures later, though they are hard to tell apart so it may be a lost cause regardless if everyone agrees on what they are haha. I will keep the Polish longer just to make sure I keep the right ones, but the others will go pretty soon. I was just curious if I could tell what I had.

Yes a 50/50

Anyway, they are hard to sex thats why I really hate hatching eggs. The adorable puffs are cute but I hate getting to many roosters and I have a hard time getting rid of them. Even at swaps it's amazing how no one wants them :hmm

I got mine from a hatchery, I would rather hatch the eggs lol. I still have to wait to figure out what they are.

Oh, yeah I love letting the mother do it but when it comes to bators I'm awful. And I'm happy to announce a new broody Polish. I had one here a few weeks ago but she gave up within a day or so. This one is sticking with it and is determined to hatch them out. It's been 3 days so far and she only budges when I feed so we'll see how this one goes. Sitting on 10 eggs I think, we'll see at the end. Very excited first broody Polish I've had in years :hmm

Anybody there who has hatched the Polish from Nick ? I due to get a grab bag special and hope that his White Polish eggs are included. The pictures look wonderful !

I did order Polish from my favorite hatchery once and I was disappointed but then I did not expect much but wanted to see what they looked like. I want LF Polish and I want those with beards. Yes Yes

Had a white chick hatch from the eggs I gave SunnyDawn. I can't wait to see it grow up, I love the white Polish. I guess it came from my white splash with either a WCB or Black roo. She also got one that looks chocolate but we'll have to see one that one, but it's bearded.

OH, and I found a nest of eggs from my EE's so I added 9 eggs from my Polish. I sure hope someone starts sitting on them soon or I just wasted eggs that I could sell for eating. I wondered where all the eggs were....those girls better be planning on hatching them!

BigDaddysMom Yes I sure hope that some one has the inclination to be a broody. Have you noticed anyone that might be attending to those eggs or looking in on them. Maybe you need to hire a broody hen.

I have never had a broody hen do that job except once I had a showgirl sit for a while but not long enough. Besides the fact that Silkies are one of the many breeds that I like I want them for their broodiness. It would be fun to watch a little fluff ball or more being taken care of by their mom.

There's three girls that hang in the hay stall and two have laid eggs there (I know because the eggs are brown and blue). I haven't had any of these girls go broody but two of their moms went broody and hatched me lots of chicks! I can see the eggs have been rolled around but if someone doesn't start sitting on them in the next couple of days I'll break up the nest and shoo them back into the hen house.
