I have to talk POLISH!

Why would you be uncertain if you could post pictures of your birds ?

Oh, you never know what people want to get testy about

. Like newcomers who don't know the difference between Easter Eggers and Araucanas getting it explained to them rather unkindly. I wasn't sure if the specific breed section is more for show quality or if hatchery quality is welcome. Glad everyone is able to show off their Polish! I'm excited about ours, I was pretty surprised to see them at our feed store, which is small and typically only gets a few breeds.

Chickee, thank you for the information! The Sultan looks so much like the Polish, other than her feathery feet, I thought maybe they were related somehow. I'm going to go read more about their origins. And I agree about the silver laced being a boy! I've got that sense from him from the first day we got him (almost passed him up for that reason, but I don't mind a few roosters). I hope the others are pullets! That would be nice, but I won't get my hopes up until I see an egg

Your welcome

I learned something too. I am interested in all of the chicken breeds.

My first Polish were from the feed store and surprisingly nice quality birds. If you find yourself wanting more Polish I am just 2 hours away

I plan to hatch some buff laced Polish chicks soon.

We used to live in Kenwood and I worked as a Vet tech in Sonoma.

I am always looken to improve my knowledge an don't mind constructive criticism but either way its been sooo far a nice thread I stopped chatting on things like this was Horraible I just hope this stays smokeless
On a different note I love the polish roo an very proud of my boys I switch them out an they get time in then hen house

Look at my very pretty, odd colored, 6 week old polish cockerel. I got him at my local feed store and had no idea what kind of bird he was for a while. This is the same chick in my avatar photo, can you believe it? I'm in love with him and am trying to figure out how to keep him once he starts to crow. I am thinking about making him a small rooster house in the garage to sleep in at night just to keep from disturbing my neighbors.

Here is a front shot of him...
My boys can get a bit testy not as bad as I thought but we handle ours ALOT except my red man he is alittle butt sometimes but he's ok for a couple of days after he gets kicked in the head from jumping at me I may have to let him go soon

Awesome! I am so jealous of the egg hatching thing. If I had lots of land I'd hatch all year round and keep all the roosters I needed.

My guy is definitely not a cuddly guy, he is quite skittish, but tolerates me when I am flinging oat treats into the coop. He hates to be picked up but allows me to stroke his back as he walks by me, like yours. We'll see how he does. He's still quite young and the hormones haven't kicked into full gear yet. If he gets bad he might be headed to freezer camp!
