I go to swaps, sales, auctions and any where a chicken might be found:-D I have never seen a bantam polish either. Someday, I will get some Tolbunts, dream on...

Little helpful advice - Most swaps, auctions, etc don't have much beyond hatchery stock (basically, the average/common stuff you can order online or find at the feedstore) but occasionally do have something exotic or rare. However, there's just some colors out there that require a little more hunting, and, some shipping. (whether it be eggs or adult birds)


But hey, as years pass, colors are usually easier to find due to increasing populations. Tolbunts are hard to find due to fertility and vigor issues because of a very tight genepool. Creles are hard to find because they're such an early-stage project and there's just few of them around, with even less info on them. I in fact don't even know how their current genepool or strength is running. The lady I got my cockerel from seemed to have a tough time raising hers though.

Anyway, I end with a pretty picture from recently.

Give it about 2 months and I'll actually show tolbunts that aren't my two main boys. But for now, I just need to wait. All my F1 pullets are laying, but, it's a bit early to be incubating eggs.

I would also love to know what the end goal is with American crele projects. I have 2 "crele" roosters and 2 "crele" hens that I hatched last summer. I know that they need a lot of work, and would like to know what direction that should be going. I have heard somewhere that creles should be bred to white crested black? I just know that I love mine, and would love to improve them.

Right now I'm aiming my cockerel to my WCB's, as, they're also non-bearded, will help his size and comb, and will also help break-up his lacing, but, that's only if the proposed goal is to shoot for a more birchen-type color vs a gold laced or spangled color.

ETA - It's obvious to me that Creles have WCB or WCC behind them; thankfully my cockerel has NO white in his crest.

I agree. The crele project birds that I've seen have some great colors and patterns.....whether they are intended or not. I love multi-colored, multi-patterned birds even if they are just mutts or pets or projects.
