I have to talk POLISH!

Someone asked what Buff x GL makes - It makes more but heterozygous Buff Laced Polish with some random feathers that have bits of black lacing on them. Otherwise they're basically identical to a Buff Laced.

LOVE those whites shown earlier!

Shoot, I think we should just rename "our" Crele breed "Creleproject Polish" , and make our own breed. There have been some breeds on BYC lately from Europe that don't all look the same. But it's still a breed.

I would kind of like to see Creleproject breed include variation, why make them look all the same when we have such stunning attempts posted here?

in order to get the variety accepted everyone needs to be working towards the same goal

I'm pretty sure the interested parties here may want to work towards a goal. But, even Greenfire is breeding and selling birds that do not all look the same, and it's accepted for that breed.

Since the color is a newer one, even the pro breeders are not getting even near consistant results. The Crele people on this thread have some stunning birds that may fit into a Crele or Creleproject category. I , for one, would certainly not want to block these birds out -we don't even have a breed standard yet.

I'm just throwing ideas out there.

Not a real comparison, but, I remember when Jack Russel Terriers (JRT's) were varied in physical characteristics, but all had the same natural instincts. They were never accepted by the AKC because of the physical variations. Then that changed. Some breeders found consistency in the taller, more broken coat JR's, and renamed them Parson Terriers, and got them accepted to the AKC. Yet, prior to AKC acceptance, those "Parson" Terriers, and all JR's grouped by utility rather than physical similarities are really all still JRT's.

I am thinking about getting some polish chickens and I was wondering how well do they lay? Some articles say that they was bred for egg production, while others say they are poor layers. I know it mostly depends on the individual hen itself, but I just need a round about answer. Thanks!

Both are generally true - A seriously show quality and especially more rare color of Polish can indeed be a poor layer, but chances are, unless you're looking for those - You're gonna get a good layer, as most out there were bred for it.

I've got mostly hatchery Polish, all are very dependable except in the winter after their first year, and especially not when they're molting which is a LONG time compared to most breeds, but otherwise they're very dependable.

The non-hatchery birds of mine take forever to wait on laying though (as in, a young pullet begins very late) but once they've started, they're really good, at least for their first year and a half so far.

Sweet...just scored 2 wc black cockerels from one of the best in the country...one of the boys is a brother to the wc black that won at crossroads
