I have to talk POLISH!

Some new pics: This is my daughter and a sweet buff hen named "red wagon". This hen is so sweet. Eats right out of our hands and follows the kids around the yard "talking". Not Polish related but I thought this picture was funny. Sebastian the goose popped RIGHT before I took this picture. They were having fun until then. They were not happy. Lol

I have two pre-teen Polish that I think are male. But I have not have good luck is guessing gender on this breed. They are a mystery until they lay or crow.

It sure is a challenge trying to figure out the gender

Well, solved a mystey about my newest polish chicks over the weekend. I was getting worried because the pullet's legs seem too long. She just looked odd, and her parents had such good type, I worried that the judges wouldn't like this look to her.

then she crowed Sunday.

Now I need to email the friend that I gave the other two "pullets" to, and see if we are still friends, LOL.

How funny!

When I first posted pictures of my two Polish chicks, some of the experts said they both looked like roosters, so that is what I thought they were. They both developed wattles but no combs. They both turned out to be pullets to my delight!

It is hard to tell gender on the Polish

I am hoping that after I hatch several batches I will get a feel for what sex they are at a young age. With my BLRWs, I have done enough hatches to be able to tell at a very young age which ones are the roosters.

These two looked like roosters at first and ended up being pullets

I just hatched out four new babies and I am guessing two of each gender. The one with the black spots is an obvious rooster since it is bold and attacks my hand! Typical rooster behavior with all of my breeds.

Chicks that turned out to be pullets~

New chicks that I think are 2 pullets and 2 cockerels~

Cockerel for sure~

Others I am guessing on~

My SLP isn't showing any silver yet at about 6 wks. Shouldn't she?

And y is it all the great Polish I see are in CA??? Too far.

Beautiful birds! Where are you located? I'm in N. California near Sacramento. I think polish chicks are so awesomely cute!
