I have to talk POLISH!

Quote: I'm not sure what black crested whites are supposed to look like, but when I saw the pics the day you got them, I thought that they looked white crested because of the yellow heads. White crests start off yellow with either a black or blue body. I would suppose that black crested whites would have a dark head and yellow body. The one with blue wings looks more white crested blue to me but you should know in about 2 weeks.

well i would think that they would have a darker crest also, i went back and look at the hatchery and the pic of the chicks they had looked like they were mostly blue with a white under side https://secuservices.com/ideal/newideal/selectproduct.aspx?qty=1&ID=BCWP&Product=131

this is a photo from above of the three chicks in question
im thinking that maybe only one is the right color but i don't know

i think this one might be the right color because it has a blue crest and a darker bill

I think that you might be right. The two in the back look very much like my white crested blues as babies.
They are all very nice looking.
Can't wait to see pics of them when they are older.
Are they bantams or standards?

they are suppose to be standards but the last polish i got form a hatchery were some where in between no quite small enough for bantams but small for standards.

Wait: You said white crested black.

They definately sent you the wrong chicks.

Get in touch with them (Ideal?) and have them refund you your money on them. They messed up.

With the Black Crested Whites the color is not stable yet there are not enough birds in the gene pool. I started with 10 chicks and was very lucky to end up with 1 good roo and 2 good hens. All of them have some slight lacing on their chests that is not suppose to be there but other than that I am happy to work with them. You will be shocked at how your chicks will change but remember you have hatchey stock so they may not be perfect but they will still be cute! :D

I just had the neatest experience with my Polish roo. He's going through chicken puberty, so he's been really aggressive lately. Compared to the infamous Milton, our barred rock rooster, he's still quite tame, but I've been trying to work with him to prevent him from getting worse. Anyway, when I scoop him up and carry him around, he's not happy about it at all, and is pretty enthusiastic to be let loose when I finally put him down, but today I tried something a little different. When I caught him (against his will, of course) I sat down and cuddled him into my lap, and it was like he just melted. Even after I let go of him, he continued to sit in my lap for a good five minutes before casually hopping off my lap and wandering away. It was a very heartwarming moment for me and my little roo. <3
