I just made a mistake.

@ jdywntr: Thanks for these insights

I guess the last word is not spoken yet, even molecular data can be misguiding sometimes. It can happen that the same resarch can come to different results when performed again.

My muscovy drake behaves pretty well. I got him when he was 3 1/2 weeks old. He is very tame and sometimes I almost have to push him into the shed at night because he does not want to move but he would never attack me. On the other hand, he can be very bossy towards the rest of the flock and sometimes even tries to rape my pekin drake.

Ha! Now that's funny Going Quackers! I think I am there concerning all my animals!

Me no likee muscovies. Nothing against people that do, I just find them to be to unpredictable.

Unpredictable is a new one lol Usually i hear "ugly" or mean.. I find there actually quite predictable, i've raised enough of them now to see that. Current flock is back into the teens with the arrivale of 4 newbies earlier this week lol

Ha! I did have a bad experience! The male was so mean we ended up killing him and the female got eaten by dogs(I did like her) So i guess I just don't like male muscovies.

But not all drakes are like that, and honestly that is not a breed issue that is a drake issue which can be in a breed as small as a call to as big as the 'scovie. Don't let one rotten apple spoil the bunch, i have a drake who is a sweetheart! seriously. no lie. The other guy is a brat but nothing dangerous and not mean.

We picked up a pair of Lake Cayuga ducks last summer (the females foot was deformed) having chickens but knowing nothing about ducks! It has been quite an interesting experience! They hatched 2 females in the fall and are so messy(taking bathes in the heated chicken water dish) but we get more laughs from them !

Ducks will turn anything holding water into a bath if they can fit into it. I left a bucket on the back deck last week, my husband hollers come look at this, one of my ducks was attempting to sort how she could fit in this random bucket of water lol (it was set to go to their area as drinking water ) My horse trough is known to have a bather now & then too.

predictably unpredictable? Maybe mine were possessed or something!

That's too bad because they just are not like that as a whole. If they were i wouldn't keep them, as they are used primarily as pest control and eggs. I don't eat duck, so nasty, unpredictable birds would have no place here.
