I just set 5-21-11 in my home made incubator

i hatched a serema they only take 18 days to hatch not 21

zebserema, I read where they sometimes take 18! Here's where I read up on Seramas....I may lock down on Tuesday...just to be on the safe side!!

Guess what ya'll... I think this winter, I'm gonna try to hatch a couple emus! I've got a friend who is doing an organic farm and he told me I could keep them there. I needed that because my wife told me she had no desire to have a six foot tall eighty pound bird here with us. LOL. I hope I get to do it.

As a sidenote, I had to toss one of my shipped in golden lakenvelder eggs tonight... I opened up the bator to turn them and something just didn't "smell" right. I sniffed each egg till I found the culprit, and I threw it over in the woods. It smelled so bad, I can't imagine it would ever make a chick. I hate to toss one, but that one needed it. Also, I bought a hen house from the Amish people who live close to here. I'm proud of it, but I'm anxious to show it up!
