I just set 5-21-11 in my home made incubator

Today is day 21 for me. I've been impatiently checking on my eggs every hour or two and still no pips. Grrrrr...

Well I have one hatched. looking at bit sorry for itself just now. was doing so great last night; pipped and unzipped almost all the way in 2 hours then went to sleep, this morning it was still cheeping away but was completely stuck. all the inside had dried out and stuck to her so i helped. its so scary having one stuck like that, but i had helped one before, the same thing had happened - big hole for hours and inside had all dried out, i just peeled the shell cafefully leaving the inside film stuck to her and then wet the film with warm water so it unstuck. luckily it was so dry there were no signs of bloodvessels. and once it was wet it slid off her easily.

She's now back in the bator drying out and i have another pip, this time a pekin. I can't believe how early they are coming. fingers corssed the rest wont need help, sometimes i just can't help myself.

will take pictures later today once i have moved her out of the bator.

Well, I hope I didn't just cook my eggs.

It was 104 in there this morning. Temps have been real steady for the past week. Last night, I set up the brooder and didn't think about the additional lamp in the room creating so much more heat.

Got temp back down to 99.5 now and humidity is steady at 68... Guess I just have to wait it out.

I've finally had a chance to check in with you guys after being down with the flu for a week...

So excited to hear some of you are getting fuzzy butts! Love the pictures of the "feathered incubators". LOL! Hilarious that the little one keeps stealing the eggs!

We had an experienced friend of ours hatch us out some eggs at the same time we were trying to hatch... so I currently have a mix of 29 barred rock, maran, and americana fuzzy butts peeping around in my "barn". We've never owned the barred rock or maran's before, so I'm looking forward to seeing their personalities etc...


Patiently watching to see how the rest of you are doing with your hatches!

I have one more pipped at the moment trying so hard not to get impatient and remember they are not due till tomorrow.

Day 22 and I finally have a pip!!

Now comes the hard part....keeping my hands off! I hope the others start to pip soon!! I'm so tempted to candle them and see if they have at least pipped internally, but I know I shouldn't do that at this point, so I'm trying to get busy with other stuff.
