Also, Dubbing is illegal in the United states and the District of Columbia, so, that roo was technically abused. unless you live somewhere else.
I thought that it was part of the standard? I've also heard of people doing it to help with frostbite issues?

The OP is Australia and the bird is in a shelter. Also dubbing is not illegal in the US!! Where are you getting your information?????

Where are you getting that? Using them for sport is illegal, but I've never heard dubbing to be illegal and I feel like there would be lots of fines and arrests by now if it was considering it's required for show

One thing I've noticed in the chicken world is that gamecocks are looked at very much the same as APBTs. I'm not talking about the backyard bred, un-papered, mixed breed things people refer to. I'm talking the old school real game dogs.

Dubbed = fighting bird.

Cropped ears = fighting dog.

🙄

Huge misconception.

wow finally somebody who knows what an APBT is

off topic, but respect for you.

I haven’t got him yet... but he’s at my local animal shelter... for those of you who know my situation I’ve decided to screw the council and get a no crow collar and have a rooster... other people in my town have them so why can’t I? Lol... but I need to know his breed so I can get the collar before the rooster...

1) Since you've already had to get rid of one rooster after your neighbor complained of the crowing, I do not recommend getting this rooster. No-crow collars do not really mean NO crows. The best they do is make it quieter.

2) Why would you need to know his breed to get a collar? Just go to the animal shelter and ask permission to measure his neck.

3) If you really want to try a collar on him, I suggest you get the collar and try it while he's still at the shelter, to see if he can tolerate wearing it and if it makes his crowing enough quieter.

I think things would run so much smoother if the people commenting actually knew WTH they were talking about and not relying on what they heard, read or even did themselves 65 yrs ago when age has clearly gotten the best of them.
Good luck to the OP with the choking game birdy roo.
