I know it’s a rooster but what breed please

Thanks... this is why I was interested in him... for showing purposes... His colours are amazing...

as for use of the collar it would be only be used instead of a blackout box as I feel cramming a rooster in a small box with little or no ventilation is down right cruel.

time out coop is sorted I have a few hens who like to throw there weight around and often get put “on there bed” for 5mins or so...
I think that a collar might choke him, and they also don't really fully stop them from crowing? I'm not sure if a rooster is a good idea if they aren't allowed and your neighbors don't like them....

Risking strangulation is also cruel. If you can't have a male crowing, don't get a male

I'm just going to say this once. The OP posted another thread last week wanting to know the breed of her "hen". the best on BYC *literally over 50 different people*
told her that she has a poorly laced golden Wyandotte rooster. She had been told *by the seller* it was a golden laced Sebright hen, and would not believe that it is a rooster instead. So this lady takes her 6 month old chicken to a vet to get SEXED. Anyone informed on chickens knows that you can't *sex* a chicken at this age, and Wyandottes are essentially difficult to sex in the first place. Her vet claims that it's a hen and this lady stands on the opinion.
Most of us think it is a rooster, and are waiting for him to crow now.
Sooo this person may not be super informed, hence trying to put a collar on a gamebird.
Here is the dumpster fire of a thread:

Isn’t that why people join this forum to learn? I’m sorry but my Audrey is not 6months old yet... I’ve only had her for about a month or 2 and the person who sold her to me has lied about the age and the breed... I haven’t ruled out that she could be rooster but I am standing by my own belief that she is a pullet... she’s now about 24-30weeks old and still hasn’t crowed still hasn’t tried mounting the other girls and still hasn’t layed an egg.. what you forgot to mention is that the vet also said that the bird was very malnutritioned and anyone who looks at the photos from day 1 post to the last lot I posted can see a difference on how much work I have put into this chicken...

As for the collar debate if it’s not recommended to use one on a game fowl then obviously I would do more research and reconsider that breed for a rooster....

I’m sorry but I’m so sick of being “attacked” just because I’m new at all of this I’ve only owned chickens for a little over 8months and some of you attack me like I’ve had them my whole life and that I should just know all of this...

I haven’t got him yet... but he’s at my local animal shelter... for those of you who know my situation I’ve decided to screw the council and get a no crow collar and have a rooster... other people in my town have them so why can’t I? Lol... but I need to know his breed so I can get the collar before the rooster...

I’m in love with his colours and that tail...
Plz.. Don't get the crow collar! He would be much happier and docile w/out it!

I wasn't attacking you, simply stating the facts. 24 weeks is exactly 6 months old, so she is indeed six months old. My rooster didn't crow until 8 months, and he just recently started mounting hens at 9 months old. I was so sure that He was a She, until he crowed one morning. 💜
I'm not asking you to change your opinion either, simply explaining to the people in this thread that you are not very informed ( as stated above. )
It's alright and we have all been there at some point, but it's good for others to know the situation.
