I love my clothesline!

I bought this neat retractable clothesline from Wal-Mart this past spring. I had a clothesline when I moved into this house 30 years ago, but the yard was shaded, and the clothes just didn't dry right out there, plus they got sap on them, it was a real PITA. But now the trees are gone (septic install) and I've always wanted to hang out my clothes. This line is amazingly tough, I can hang a full load of denims on it and it doesn't sag down, and I extend it probably 35 or 40'. I've also got one of those folding wooden racks I can put all the small stuff on. I've been hanging my clothes all summer and my electric bill has plummeted - the past month's bill just came, and it was $53!! Of course now that the dark season is upon us it'll go up, but it won't be because of my dryer! I also have clotheslines strung down by the washing machine, I use them in the winter, the furnace is down there and things dry pretty quickly down there - although without that fresh air smell.

I couldnt do without hanging my clothes out to air dry. When I did live where there were regulations against an outdoor line, I draped my clothes around the house to dry. I too love my clothes line and the smell and feel of line dried clothes. I associate clean with stiff and no smell, not limp and smelling of cling-free.
Unfortunately I had to build my pen and coop under half of my line so Im a bit limited on line space these days...I love my clothes line, but I love my roosters more.

I can't wait to be able to put up my clothesline again. We have been having landscaping done so our clothes would have just gotten covered in dirt for the past 3months. Now that we have everything just about done, I have to put it back up. Can't wait to have crisp clothes again!

and we lived in a small trailer park with a crazy nazi landlord who had insane rules. I mean like laundry can only be hung outside between the hours of 10-1pm on Wednesdays on the 2nd week of the month, every OTHER month. She was nutty, for real. I, too, love clothes from the line. They smell fantastic. So, I rigged a clothesline down my hallway and would open all the windows to get a breeze. Worked like a charm

Even now on rainy days, I hang my babies diapers in the bathroom and turn on the WindMachine fan. They're dry and smelling awesome in no time

Love to hang out my clothes but I do cheat a little. My towells and jeans go into the dryer for about 10 - 15 min to fluff them so they are not stiff. Love the sheet hung out except I need to keep the dogs inside when I hang them out especially in the hot summers here. They like to walk under the wet sheets to cool themselves thus leaving dog hair and dust all over them.

Saves tons of $ too, in the summer they dry in about 5 minuts too so I can get a ton of laundry done quickly.

My kids have grown up with line dryed cloths and would never complian that the cloths where to stiff or scratchy cause they dont want to do the laundry them self hehe....
I knew a lady that the only thing she would line dry was her towels cause the stiff towels helped scrub off the dead skin cells...

I love my clothesline too! Its part of the reason I got chickens! lol

We planted a garden and I told DH we needed a clothesline now. After it was put up I told him we NEED chickens now! He started on a coop the next day.

I'm off to hang laundry now!

I had the darling caveman install a line between two trees after our dryer died on us. I love it, except for its many faults. 1. it's too short, only 5 shirts at a time. 2. the ants use it to go from tree to tree, so i end up bringing them in...grrr 3. we live next to an oil field, so they smell a lil funky every now and then, depending on the wind direction. 4. I refuse to hand out our undies where everyone can see.
But I fixed most problems when they dryer was revived, I line dry, then I fluff. Saves a lot of energy and stress.
