That poor guy!! When DH wanted to move out of state, I told him I refuse to live anywhere that doesn't have all 4 seasons. I love the weather change

I couldn't hack it down south.

Well it didn't help that he was in a car accident 3 years ago and really can't cope with the cold weather. He wants to, but I can't deal with him hurting. If we ever did go north, the only way I would ever find him would be up against a wood stove. lol Although, that might not be bad, I wouldn't have to worry about it getting chilly

I love the fall too! about two nights ago, we started to finally get our coolish fall weather when a cold front came in. Before the cold front the temps were cooling, but the air just didn't have that fall smell yet. It does now!!

Our leaves here turn yellow and that's about it. There is a little area in Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas called the Talimena Scenic Highway, that is said to have absolutely beautiful fall foliage. I've lived here all of my life, and haven't seen it yet, but maybe this fall!
I have always wanted to go to the New England States to see the leaves, and the covered Bridges! My Dad's family is from Pennsylvania and I havent' been there since I was two. My husband grew up in upstate New York. I think a trip to the New England States in order lol

Skand, I hear ya on West Texas. My husbands parents moved from Hawaii to Wichita Falls. Talk about a culture shock! The closer we got to Wichita Falls the flatter it got, and the browner the grass became! I see now why it was a great place to drive cattle

Edited to add that the scenic highway stretches through Arkansas too!

Today I filled the wood boxes with kindling. It was a great day! Cool and crisp.

I love fall!! All those pictures are so pretty. Please keep posting!! Ours haven't started turning yet. Our weather has been nice, though. In the 50s at night and 70s during the day.

By the way, in SC we do have all four seasons. It's just that spring and fall only last for about 3 weeks a piece. LOL!

I love this weather! We had our first visible frost this morning where it covered the trees and the grass... While it's kind of bittersweet because this means my impatiens are now done for the year (and they looked AMAZING this summer), I LOVE fall and the upcoming holidays. The frost means the trees are really going to start looking glorious any day now.

I hung up Indian corn on our driveway light and filled all my birdfeeders with seed and suet. The trees in our neighborhood are turning glowing shades of red, orange and yellow, and the Canadian geese are honking as they fly by overhead.

Right now, I'm baking a cake "just because." I do a lot more cooking and baking during the cold months because I can tolerate standing in front of the hot stove and oven. I lit some candles in my kitchen to go along with the scent of the baking cake. I absolutely love the scent of spiced pumpkin and apples, so this is the time of year when I go out and get housewarming candles to keep me in stock for the rest of the year. Another fun thing I like to do is boil cinnamon sticks and cloves in a pan of water on the stove. The steam makes the house smell wonderful and home-y.

Tomorrow, I'm going out to the farmers' market to buy a nice stash of cornstalks to put up in my front garden.

I can't wait to curl up in front of our fireplace with a hot chocolate and watch the first snowflakes fall outside our windows... It isn't unusual to get snowfall in October in Michigan.

By the way, I noticed a new pumpkin carving pattern at this site: http://carvingpumpkins.net

We used to live in West Texas too. The kids and I used to get VERY homesick.

I love fall, too! The cool air makes me feel happier and more energetic.

I have mixed feelings about October, though. I love the weather etc, but several people we know passed away in October, so the month is tinged with sadness for me. Eleven years ago, one of my Dad's closest friends died of cancer Oct 1. Two days later, my Grandma S was diagnosed with cancer. The following day, the day of the friend's funeral, our beloved cat Sally was hit by a car and died instantly. Oct 17, Grandma S went to heaven. Since then, we've had several other people we know pass away in October.

I know Grandma S is better off in heaven, but I still miss her, especially at this time of year. The days I had her seem like a dream now.
