i need a little help with silkie breeding

i have 2 silkies hen and rooster they just turned 1 and the hen just start laying like a month ago and my silkie rooster i don't think he is mating i never see him do it.. i see him try with the big hens but they put their heads down and he slides off.. so is there a way to help him start mating?? i cut his beard a little should i just cut his beard off would that help ?? the hen is a black silkie and the rooster is a grey silkie what kind of babies would they make random or ??

well if im standing looking out the window hes just grabbing her tail feathers nothing else .. he trys with big hens but fails at that to i never see him and i don't think he is but like you said maybe when im not around but i see all my other rooster mate when im around them so why not him ?

I had an ee roo ive never seen him mate until i locked him up by himself for a few days then released him and he started mating everyone lol.

well i hope he starts mating with my silkie hen i have some to go hatch and they are developing they will hatch on friday or on the weekend but i never saw or heard of many other breeds mating with silkies but i heard of silkie roosters mating with other breeds so i hope he is mating my black silkie .. do you know much about silkies because i want to know of their genes like what i have to mate to make what or having better chances of getting that color

My silkies just hatched out a im pretty sure a pure silkie chick but it looks white considering the cock is blackish. The hens are white. Hmmmm..

well theres a range of silkie colors .. i don't like the white ones much because if you have two white ones they only make white chicks

I like the whites but if the roo is blackish i thought that would dominate the white.

it will but if u have 2 whites mating then you will only get whites but if you have all different colors then you will get random colors

Heres my roo.

The chick has nicely feathered legs. And the right amount of toes as my white silkie roo gave poor looking silkies I no longer have the white roo. Lol
