I need answers ASAP. Tyson has a huge chicken barn across the street from me, they told me to get r

Sorry to butt in here, but I have read a bunch of this thread and it sounds like a crazy thing!
More important, I wonder if the sickness is from Aspergillosis (toxic mold allergy) from mold growing on all the chicken poop filth the previous owner left?

Hope you get the ventilation improved in your new digs. Good luck.

Wow what drama... I stepped in just in time to hear how it all played out LOL!!! Good for you, sticking to your guns and getting all the facts instead of folding to their "nice" request. Sorry though now you have to put up with PO neighbors.... Get well! (Oh, maybe you should go convince that new neighbor to the north to get chickens, too...

Another possibility is hypersensitivity pneumonitis, or as my sister called it, bird dung lung. Inhaled steroids are one possible treatment.

Glad everything is working out, I would love to see some pic's of you coop set up and also some pic's of there barns and how close it all is.

I am glad your doing ok and I hope you get better, I always wonder if people don't respond if they just moved on or if they became ill or worse. Glad your back and hope you stick around.

Never ceases to amaze me how inconsiderate and deceitful people can be. I grew up having neighbor problems. It's awful and makes my stomach churn. Currently, I'm having a couple minor issues with a couple of surrounding people but nothing this severe. Hope the trouble ends for you. GET HEALTHY!!!

I completely agree here. It's your farm and you don't have a contract with Tyson so you should not fall under any of their regulations. I would be worried about having my chickens anywhere close to one of their facilities but I doubt there are any county regulations saying you can't have your chickens.

Funny how you mentioned Histoplasmosis I am going to be tested for it, looks like it may be my problem..where we're you 12 months ago :)

Whatever the illness is, it is very probably from the filth left by the previous owner. Toxic microorganisms thrive in old poop. The sooner you get the right treatment, and get your living environment cleaned up and sterilized so you're not reinfected, the better! Sounds like a job for a vat of chlorine bleach.
Please let us know how it goes.
