I grew up with broiler houses even before there was a Marek's vaccine, and my cousins have broiler houses still. Those chicks are innoculated before they are ever shipped against most chicken diseases...keep your chickens and enjoy them. If you're still worried, call your local extension agent. They need to earn their keep anyway!

Aspergillosis is more than an allergy. The mold colonizes in the body, eventually supressing the immune system, then spreads to major organs including bones and the brain. Anyone who has a suppressed immune system is a more likely host: this could be due to a regular infection like a cold, or due to immune system suppressing drugs like those for rhumatoid arthritis or many other conditions. The fungus was found (from autopsy) in one half of cancer patients in one hospital, but doctors do not look for it normally. It is deadly once major organs become involved.

It resembles cancer on an xray, except for having a "halo" or "broken glass" appearance. It is hard to diagnose, as blood tests look for antibodies which may be suppressed due to immune system suppression. Biopsy or tests of sputum are the most reliable tests. Treatment is a very harsh anti fungal drug.

Its my understanding that you BOUGHT the house two years ago. So long as chickens are permitted in your county etc... there should be no reason you can't have them on your own property.

If you legally have chickens on your property another person or business cannot make you get rid of your animals/birds. Tough tiddly wompers to Tyson and yor neighbors.

After reading this, if this is an example of the suppliers Tysons contracts to I will never eat another Tyson chicken again.

On the other hand, Tyson and other corps like them do not necessarily control the actions of the raisers. I am sure some are very nice and accomodating people. One bad apple and all that...
