hello Im planning to build a brooder 33" long X 20" wide X 13" Tall for coturnix quails

how many quails chicks can if it in there without them being too overcrowded, what brooder light can I use for best results, what food can I give them so they can grow big and strong.

As to how many you can get in there.... That depends on how often you clean it. In reality you could easily get 25 or 30 coturnix to 5 or 6 weeks in that size. This is the brooder I use in my unheated shop. coldest I'v had chicks in it was 12 degs this winter with no issues. Its 36"x48" x14". I run two 250 watt heat lamps in the fixtures that are screwed in place. You can see the wafer thermostat in the side that controls the lights - temp. Too hot is just as bad as too cold. I also have a little light on all the time so the chicks are not stressed by the lights cycling on and off...The one in the pic was temp till I got the wall mounted fixture. I normally run pine horse pellets in it for bedding too. they stay fresher longer and do much better with moisture....They turn to saw dust as the get wet.

EDIT TO ADD: As to feed, Purina game bird starter, 30% protein, hatch till dispatch.....
