I need help! I have a very sick Rooster

Rooster update! Donozo is still alive and alert this morning. He has been eating and drinking and his poop is soft like it should be. I hope he continues to fight! I will update later. Thank you for all the advice.

Thank you. I talked to a friend today that breeds show chickens and she said the symptons sounded like pnuemonia. so i'm going to get some batrial? for him tomorrow to see if that will really get him up and going. I hope this works.

I just recieve Baytril in the mail, wanted to have it in my med kit for the flock. Hopefully I'll never have to use it but didn't want to need it and not have it.. hope he gets well for ya..

Donozo update: He started gasping for air and he fell backwards and fliped his neck back. So now im thinking it's possible its e-coli. Well I couldn't stand his suffering so I had to :(cull him tonight.

It's so hard when you lose them. We try our best and that is all they ask of us.

Are you going to bring him to a state lab? It's usually free - I have University of CT. When I dropped my rooster off there were going to charge me!! But earlier in the day I talked to someone in the state and they said they don't charge because they want people to bring birds in to keep an eye on avian flu, etc. Did they give you instructions? I forget... keep cool, not cold???.... this way you will get the best results. All is not lost, he may save another one of your bird's life by knowing what it was.

Good luck.
