So I have a pretty bad problem. I went to Hawaii for a week and when I came back I noticed my chickens where skidish and timid but that’s probably because I’ve been gone for a week. But my buff polish is acting really strange, mind you I have taken her to showmanship at the county fair and I have tamed her to the point where she sits on my shoulder. And now when I enter the pen area she runs from me like I’m a raccoon most of the time I can just walk by her and she’s fine. It’s been close to a week since I got back home and she’s still acting strange. Any ideas on how I can re-tame her and what happened?

Lots of treats and calmness, maybe sitting down so they don't feel threatened as you loom above, it might not of been the cousin, did a storm blow by? My chickens get very wild after windy storms. Or if an animal tried to get in they will be skittish for a day or two. I hope yours will be tamed again in a few days.

I also think that they need to get used again, some days and they will know you.
I have a geese, if I wear other clothes (and don`t speack any words width my voice) they can not recognize me, and then line up in battle formation, shout, hiss and try to pinch.
Therefore, I wear the same clothes for a very long time, and I go in an old training suit both in winter and in summer :)

Basically you’re starting over with them , to win their trust .

That’s funny about wearing the same clothes each day , I changed my jacket when my chickens were young , when I walked up they all hit the roof literally , I never thought about using my voice to calm them !! Now I know

my ducks are the same way. just hang out with them more often for a week or so. try to hold them too, so they can see that you're not a threat. sometimes I record my ducks quacking, then play it back to them. they give me a really confused look, but calm down. :lau

Lol, i have a strange habit of talking with geese, ducks, chickens. Some ducks live for more than five years, so they have long been accustomed to my voice. But still, if I put on other clothes, they treat me distrustfully.

My ducks, if I start to imitate them, scream even louder. They have learned to scream so loudly that people who walk along the road after a fence near my house, begin to be frightened and startled by surprise.
The concert begins when goats, walking up a fenced plot, come and start calling me near the gate near ducks and geese. As a result, goats, ducks, and geese start yelling, and everyone tries to outshout the others. :D
I used to drive goats the other way, but there are too many cabbages, goats try to eat it every time. Therefore, we walk near the place where geese and ducks live.
And my neighbor from another plot has chickens, and one cock, and this cock always echoes with my cocks.
