I need ideas for the clumsy non-crafty person

lol Trivets?
I found one out of my mom's stuff last month. Remember those old rattan trivets? I used to see them everywhere, now when I want some, can't find them at all.

I have not had a chance to read this entire thread yet. However what I have read sounds fun! You all are so creative. Bless you debiraymond for starting this thread, you seem to suffer from the same affliction I do! I call myself creativley challenged! One inexpensive idea I used for co-workers one year was this...

I mixed up a home made batch of Hot buttered rum mix (some call it Tom and Jerry mix) It is made from ingredients most have on hand. If someone is interested I can post it. Then I found some really cute glass bowls with plastic lids at the dollar store. They had a Christmas scene on them. However, anything thats seals can be decorated and used. Then I bought those little one shot bottles of rum from the liquor store. I then tied the bottle and instructions for mixing the batter, rum and hot water to a bow and glued it to the lid. I made the instructons from card stock and craft scissors.

Not to make you all think I may have a problem (

hiccup!), but I also have a recipe for making Irish creme to add to your coffee. A co-worker gave it to me and it is delish! Easy too!

My aunt made some stuff she calls white trash. It's like chex mix, only you add whatever, pretzels, nuts that you want. Take some white almond bark, melt it down, pour it on the mix, then take powdered sugar, throw all in a clean trash bag, and shake it till your arms are tired...Viola.. white trash!
Put in individual treat baggies...it's scrum-dilly-umptious!

You bet zookeeper. I need to dig through my very unorganized recipe collection. So give me a little time. I have to pick up my son, then dinner and homework. If I don't get them posted tonight, it will be on here in the morning! I promise!

lol ya - trivets, that's it!

My SIL makes something similar to the 'white trash' recipe, except regular chocolate so it's brown, puts it in dog bowls & calls it "kibbles 'n bits".

Here are the recipes I promised. I hope you all like them.

Irish Creme Liquor (great in your coffee)

4 eggs
14oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cup whiskey (I use Canadian Mist)
1/2 tsp instant coffee
1/2 tsp coconut extract (I have left this out and it doesn't make a big dif)
1 Tbsp chocolate syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp almond extract

Blend in blender for 2 minutes. Store refrigerated. My dear friend Diana gets the credit for this. Gee I miss her

Hot Buttered Rum

1/2 lb butter
1/2 tsp each, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and all spice
1 cup brown sugar
2 beaten eggs

Mix melted butter(marg works too), spices and brown sugar, let cool. Add beaten eggs and mix at low speed on electric mixer for 1 hour. This is a recipe I found in my Moms things after she passed away.(miss her too!

) I thought the one hour must be a mistake, but it isn't, it really takes that long. So you may want to double it to save time. Remember to store in the fridge. It needs stirred every so often, as it will seperate.

To serve... Place one heaping spoon of batter with a shot of rum and fill cup with hot water. Enjoy! Let me know how it turns out!
