I need some ideas for homemade Christmas gifts

my budget was tight-no Xmas gifts for anyone except the children in the family-I made egg ornaments for everyone else-they loved them

As a solution to the cookie jar, weevil dilemma, you could make the cookie dough and freeze it in individual balls and give everyone a tin of frozen cookie dough balls. I love this idea because they can enjoy a fresh-baked cookie anytime. 1 or 10 it doesn't matter...they can make as many or as few as they want. I love fresh baked gifts from people but I find that during the holidays, I get way more than I should responsibly enjoy. I even do this at home so I don't have a big plate of homemade cookies sitting around my house. I just pull out 4 dough balls and bake them for my girls. When they're gone, they're gone. It also helps keep my kids for begging for more cookies....If they only see 4 cookies, they know they can only have 4 cookies each. Just a thought....

And the cookies are so much better than the junk you can buy. I've noticed that a lot of the Fund-Raiser cookies can be stored at room temperature for 3 weeks!! Yuck! We don't need all those preservatives!

Feather crafts are another chicken related gift you could give. Just to name a few:

Feather trees are an old German tradition. Instructions can be found online.
Feather earrings
Fishing flies

To keep work gift costs to a minimum one year, instead of exchanging gifts with all the co-workers, I organized an ornament exchange. Everyone made or purchased one tree ornament (feathers and eggs lend themselves well to these). At our work Christmas party we drew numbers to pick an ornament.

I forgot to add that I also made the hot pack rice bags last year, also made eye masks. Everyone had their own fabric, except the boys both got pirate ones. My brother even had a camo one. I also tried to make those fizzy bath balls but I messed something up and had rain forest scented green fizz all over the kitchen. Scented bath salts are easy and cheap. I love using old candle jars or going to salvation army for neat containers.

If you have left over fleece you can always do the tied pillows or tied blankets. I am sure you have seen them but in case you have not you would just cut the ends of the fleece in 1 inch strips about 3 inches long and tie them together around a pillow. My nieces are getting these this year to snuggle with while watching tv. If you have not seen them let me know and I will give a better description and post a picture.

I want to make homemade bath fizzies for the ladies this year, but I think it will be too expensive to do. I may start buying a few items a month for next Christmas though. The oils are what is so pricey, ouch!

We have made our share of home made gifts but also look on places like craigslist. I have been able to get my little gal the exact thing she wanted for a few dollars compared to a hundred dollars before this way. This year my gals are getting pretty little fleece capes. I had a wool one when i was little and I loved it. So easy to make too. I got enough fabric for them for under $10
