I need to give up 2 of my roosters. I have: lavender orpington, french black copper marans, serama,

great shots! and what a handsome fella. Dr. No. hahahah. I assume Darcy is the lav orp? I can see why you don't really want to rehome any of them. :) That japanese bantam is also gorgeous, don't know how I missed him the other day. How many hens DO you have? and how much area for free ranging? I am surprised that the boys are all managing to get along. Are all of the boys youngish?

I am sure you feel bad for Darcy at the moment, but I think it gets easier. I always think of how "show chickens" have to cope. lol Being carted around and penned up for competitions etc. And they are very prized no doubt. :) You can always make yourself feel better by giving him some extra treats, or coaxing a less pestered hen in for a date. I am surprised at how well they seem to adapt and adjust. Everyone seems content

Darcy is the RIR/production red currently in solitary! I put in Dr No for company and warmth in the coop. Henry s the Orpington (used to be called Henrietta...). Henry is a gentleman!

I have a pen that is fully fenced overhead too that is about 1,500 square feet, that i can divide in 3 areas, with 3 coops in it, then they are allowed out on 1.5 acres of fenced in property to roam during the day. The boys really DO look after the ladies and keep an eye on hawks etc. I have 5 roosters and 28 hens, of which 8-10 are bantam ladies. All different breeds! But i have had to buy a bunch of hen aprons because 8-9 of the girls are getting their back feathers ripped out, have injuries on their combs etc from the boys. I think i need to give up at least one of the big roosters

The two little guys fight once in a while, but very mild... the serama, which literally fits in my hand, will chase off Dr No, whom must be 10 times the size! No major fights so far - All the chickens hatched between april and july 2012, so it's a young flock.

wow your set up sounds awesome! Glad to hear that Henry the orp is a gentleman. Such a gorgeous bird! Love to see some more pics of your flock and coop sometime.

I also should find a home for two of my new roosters that hatched this summer, but so far I'm managing as it is.

Sounds like you have enough room to add some ducks! LOL. What a hoot THEY are....

you know actually, if you keep extra roosters, the bantams are a no brainer. Yes they crow, however, they don't cause any damage to the girls whatsoever. Too small! and they've never tried to attack me either. They just run around all tall and proud and look silly.

What a gorgeous-colored bird your Serama is! Dr. No looks handsome, calm, and sensible.

Is he a frequent crower? You're a talented photographer-- great catch of the buff Japanese roo flapping/fluffing! :D

I started reading this thread because I also have two roosters I must rehome, both black copper marans, and I wanted to see if you were having any luck. But I have to tell you, that little Serama might be the most stunning little creature I've ever laid my eyes on!
