I'm very proud of you! As someone who saw her MIL die in her early 60's from emphysema and who is now watching her son, my BIL, die of the same thing, with an oxygen mask in one hand and a cigarette in the other, at the age of 56, I am very glad you've changed your path. Best wishes for your continued strong resolve in the face of life's ups and downs!

So now I gotta problem. I need a new vice....

ummm....I am addicted to gum! plus, its alot cheaper and better tasting and more amusing (i'm guessing here, i have never smoked) than cigarettes.

Congrats on the quitting thing! Good luck too.

Hubby was smoking when he was 15 yrs old and smoked 2 packs a day for 40 yrs - until 10 yrs ago. If he can do it - anyone can. Good for you

Oh how sad.......that smoking and oxygen don't mix too well.......if his lungs don't give out first he'll blow himself up.

My brother is a nurse and has seen people with mouth cancer and have a tracheotomy and they'll smoke through that hole in their throat!

I have never been addicted to heroin, but they say that it is easier to kick heroin than it is to quit smoking. Quitting smoking was easier than I thought it would be, but I was ready. If you have never been a smoker, you just don't really understand what a acheivement this is. Did I mention that I also quit drinking this year?

Awesome news!!!!! Take one day at a time....
Sooo proud of you..it is not an easy thing to do, But you are a strong man, and i know you can do it.
