I really HATE hova bators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Genesis 1588 owners- have any of you had issues with fully developed chicks that don't hatch or pip and nothing more? I am trying to figure out if I should switch to the dry method or let my Genesis 1588 do it's thing...this is my first hatch with 37 eggs, 3 different people shipped to me. Thanks!

Wow, my GQF Hovabator is fabulous! The wire mesh is a little warped, but I bent it back into shape myself. It cleans up nicely, and the thermostat is constant at 100-101. I have had 2 good hatches out of it so far, and couldnt be more happy. For what I paid, I think I got my money out of it already!

I guess you could say I got my monies worth out of the Little Giants last year. I probably ran 6 hatches in each, with good results. It seems after I stored them for the winter that they are not holding the same. They were washed, sanitized, left to dry and put back in the orginal boxes. They both look brand new and so do the turners.

I have a Genesis 1588 with auto turner and had a similar experience. My last hatch... 14 (local / not shipped) eggs all made it to lockdown great... 7 hatched out clean... 7 were fully developed but didn't hatch or pip. This was my 3rd hatch... temperature was very stable at 99.5 degrees... humidity 40% Day 1-17, then 65% Day 18-hatch (dry hatch).
Here's a link to my post about this... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=341532&p=1
I
have more eggs in right now... I'm gonna try upping my humidity during lockdown and I'd like to figure out a way to get better ventilation / air flow as well for the hatch. I'm pretty new and feel pretty good about my hatches so far... but I feel like I still have a whole lot to learn

I had a similar experience with my 1588 until I switched to the dry incubation method. I used to fill all the tray troughs but now I only fill the middle one for day 1 - 18. Humidity stays 38 to 45. Then I fill all of them at lockdown and humidity goes up to 70 - 75. Eggs hatched went from under 50% to 75% - 80%.

I got the 1588 after alot of research here on BYC. So glad I spent the extra $50. the thing is rock solid in any room temp and any kind of drafts.....I set it and forget it.

You have got to be kidding right !!!!!!! is this a joke your playing on the newby unsuspecting egg hatchers LOL.

This is a loaner and so far I have probably spent more money towards this old thing than it's worth! This is the same person right.
I have found the best place for these junk hatchers is on the store shelf.

I've got my first batch in the Genesis 1588 I just got and boy is it nice so far. I went from a 9200 LG which was nothing but a headache to the 1588 and it feels like I should be doing something more but really it is set it and forget it! Very nice experience thus far. Hoping I don't have the non-hatchers that others have been talking about. I would highly recommend a 1588 to anyone frustrated with temp fluctuations on LG's and other Hovabators.

I can only think of two reason for a hovabator to leak... 1) trouble with the tray... or 2)... the surface your bator is sitting on isn't level.
