I built my hatcher this morning, and for those of you who are against these 'finicky' water heater thermostats (
) I had it stable at 100 in less than 3 hours. Still running at 100. Even with the humidity at 60 to 65%
I just candled with a better flash light and found 2 more clears in the bator and 1 clear under the broody. 2 look like they are late quitters in the bator, leaving them in though just in case they are behind the rest for some reason and I found a quitter under the broody, the insides wobbled like jello so it was removed.
In the bator candling, I found one silkie already internally pipped so thinking about moving them to the hatcher tonight instead of waiting until morning.
Anyhoo... this all leaves the broody with 2 and the bator with 21 moving and 2 questionables. If everything but the questionables hatch, not including the infertile egg count, the broody has a 66% hatch rate and my cooler bator has an 85% hatch rate..... but as they say....
Don't count your chicks before they hatch
