I set eggs 2/27/10 ** DUE 3/20th-3/21st** WE"RE HATCHING!!!!

I built my hatcher this morning, and for those of you who are against these 'finicky' water heater thermostats (

) I had it stable at 100 in less than 3 hours. Still running at 100. Even with the humidity at 60 to 65%

I just candled with a better flash light and found 2 more clears in the bator and 1 clear under the broody. 2 look like they are late quitters in the bator, leaving them in though just in case they are behind the rest for some reason and I found a quitter under the broody, the insides wobbled like jello so it was removed.
In the bator candling, I found one silkie already internally pipped so thinking about moving them to the hatcher tonight instead of waiting until morning.

Anyhoo... this all leaves the broody with 2 and the bator with 21 moving and 2 questionables. If everything but the questionables hatch, not including the infertile egg count, the broody has a 66% hatch rate and my cooler bator has an 85% hatch rate..... but as they say....

Don't count your chicks before they hatch

Boy have they played soccer!

Hey guys when should I open the bator and take the hatched ones out. They want out so bad and I'm not seeing progress for the last 4 eggs. I thought I saw the start of a crack in one then the babies moved it so I'm not sure? They have been in there for12 hours now, they don't look completly dry but I think they were a little sticky. I don't want to wake up too dead babies. tomorrow is day 21 and there is 1 egg thats due a day later. So what do I do?

What we did was steam up the bathroom REALLY well and open the bator in there to take out the chicks. Then we would use a spray bottle with warm water and mist the remaining eggs along with adding more water to the wells. Just extra insurance so the remaining chicks would not become 'shrink wrapped' inside their eggs. You can also candle at this time to see what is going on but I would just keep waiting. If you still see movement things are going well and just give them the time they need to hatch. If there is nothing going on by day 23 then I would really get a good look at them with a light.

Good luck! Just remember to put the eggs back in the bator air pocket side up!

Mine r due the 20th (2morow) can't wait. I don't need anymore chicks I have over 100 chicks now with hens setting and over 24 in bator. I hear chirps but don't see any pips yet! It is so easy 2 get hooked.

The one that hatched yesterday morning is bouncing around like a pinball in the bator. I don't seem to be getting any activity from the other eggs every time I think an egg moves it's 'Kevin' as it's been named stumbling into it. The waiting is killing me. Must....be.....patient....
