I have 3 chicks and 4 pips right now. Tomorrow is hatch day for me. One of the chicks I don't think is going to make it. It took 48 hours to hatch completely and it has been out for 24 hours but the like goo it was covered in when it hatched is all dried and stuck to it. It's not fluffy at all. It even has bits of egg still stuck to it. I got warm water on a rag and tried to wash it with that and then pat dried it and put it back in. Any advice?

a dry toothbrush? and brush it out.... i thought i was gonna have to do that with one of mine but once it was out of the incubator and under a towel in the brooder under a heat lamp she (hoping a she cause its one of my favs) fluffed right up

My fuzzies are doing great!! How did everyone do? I want updates on how they're doing for the next few months!! Haha! I really hope mine turn out to be mostly girls, I'm gonna be so sad if I have to give away any.

So I have everything hatched but two. Today is hatch day for me, though. I had 3 pop out during the night, 6 hatched yesterday, and one hatched a week ago(Died ) Out of the 2 eggs that had blood rings, they must have both had been wheaten, because I started out with 4 wheaten eggs and so far all of my babies have been blue or black. I hope these 2 hatch. No pip's yet. I'll try to get pictures today

daY 21...WOKE UP TO A PIP!!
I AM AMAZED.
DIDNT THINK I WOULD SEE THIS.THE OTHER 2 EGGS ARE TOTALLY QUIET...NONE HAVE WIGGLED THOUGH AND NO SOUND OF PEEPS UNLESS ITS UNDER MY RADAR BUT SEE THE ONE TRYING TO OPEN ITS PIP BIGGER.I PEEPED AT IT AS A RALLY CRY AND IT PUSHED ON ITS PIPED PIECE OF SHELL IN RESPONSE!! WANTS TO COME PLAY .WAIT UNTIL IT GETS OUT AND THERE IS JUST BIG OL ME NO FRIENDS...POOR GUY WELL MAYBE LATER I HOPE OR I AM MAKING A FAST TRIP 3 HOURS AWAY TO GET A DAY OLD BABY FOR HER AND I AM SAYING... HER...FRIEND.

Chickengarden what breeds are each color you mentioned in your photos?

Oh oh i added lots of water b/c the little guy is pipping and the humidity was 68 when i got up.My humidity is now 81 !!.
What do i do to lower it if it gets higher?crack the bator lid?
Dont want to drowned whoever is in the other shells Idid open the other last plug well a self made plug where the straw goes into i took the straw out...Hope to not drowned this guy b/c isnt peeping either so getting air or not yet ? .... or just zipping so wonder if hes in the air sac or out of it zipping? So many questions..Gues he is getting air from the pip?I have a photio have to put it up but oth my camera batteris and my cellwent dead. (Nice timing.) at least went dead AFTER itook one pic with both. Geez i know so little about this hatch thing.
Anybody know what to about the humidity...?Forgot but guess it will go up more b/c of the pipping and zipping.

If today is hatch day for them all then just keep the humidity up.
