I have a hen that was, quite frankly, an accident. We had our lacy roundhead hens with the silkie rooster and as nature does it thing we got a lacy round head x Silkie. She is not the prettiest but she’s a good layer (somewhat). Then I bought 4 chicks from tractor supply and one of them was a barred rock Plymouth. The thing is I didn’t know it was a rooster until it grew up, so I left it with her. Now he’s matured and I saw him fertilizing her various times. She’s now broody and waiting for the eggs to hatch. Does anybody know about a lacy round head, silkie, barred rock mix? I’m scared what’s going to hatch LOL! 😂
Has anybody else accidentally made a weird breed?
(pictures are a little bad because they cant stay still)

Chicks will probably be black with white barring (colored like penguins when they hatch, with a light dot on top of each head).

I would expect some to have crests, and some not.

Some should have single combs like their father, other combs should approximately match their mother's, you might get a few other variations as well.

I'm not sure if you will get any with clean feet, or if they will all have some amount of feathering on their feet, but in general they should have fewer foot feathers than their mother does.

No silkie feathers.

Daughters will probably lay as well as their mother, maybe a little better.

Thanks! I know little about genetics and breeding which is a fault in my part. I just leave them together and rarely let them hatch and just take the eggs. I let this girl get broody because I am so curious about what would hatch. Thanks for the information

I once had a pair of roosters who were RIR x Maran.
