Only one that pops up that A) Let's me onto the site, B) isn't out of country and C) isn't Ebay eggs, which people are always warning about anyways.

I'm not trying to defend this place, I'm just trying to say that a bird is worth as much as people are willing to pay, and if you can't find what you're looking for, you're going to offer more for it when you finally do find it

Im using the Brinsea heating plate that has the adjustable legs! I have it set up to where one side is lower than the other so that they can find a spot that suits them (since my one that survived is a little bigger than the one I just got from a local lady!) and so far so good. They aren't screaming chirping at me, and seem super comfy. I tried a few diff combinations of heights on it and they were SURE to let me know vocally if it wasn't right for them, so I just kept adjusting it until they were chirping happily, quietly, and not mad haha.

heres my setup! I know it's still the small bin but the black one I think is maybe, just maybe a week, have to double-check with the lady. and the one I got is about to be 2 weeks old. when should I upgrade them to the little playpen thing I have? its one of those circular little kitten playpens. I was gonna do pee pads bottom layer with fresh flakes on top. is there a better bedding I should use? trying to make it easy as possible with no danger to them. I also have a roosting stick thing for them to climb on. its little. 3 diff rods.
im feeding organic starter crumbles and I was feeding electrolyte water but now, just normal water, i change it a few times a day because these guys love to poop in it, haha.
Are the chick stick treat things worth getting, or is that a gimmick?

Everyone is eating and drinking fine. They are pooping SO MUCH more than the first week, jeez! I feel like I change the papertowels so much.

I actually was overwhelmed with people offering their chicks here locally! I had my pick from so many different people, thankfully, because I needed another chick so badly. (Wish I just went local to begin with but hey)

I just finished filing my dispute. I hope they rule in my favour!!!
Your set up looks pretty good. They'll outgrow the bin in no time. Then they'll start jumping out. It's awesome but her ready.

The best tips I ever got when I started were
1. Use thermometers to measure temperature in different areas. They'll also need a spot to cool off if they get too hot.
2. Add pebbles to the bottom of the water dish to avoid accident aspiration, especially during the first week or so.
3. Newspaper, lots of newspaper. The free puublications work great (not coated, of course)
4. Be ready to to provide a cover soon. A simple frame made from welded cloth or even an old screen that fits over their enclosure will work. You will need to secure it too. They get very creative very quickly.
5. Enjoy them.

I how your chargeable comes through for you. As you already know, this site is a great resource. 😁

Scroll down a little further to breeders that probably spend less on marketing and more on birds. Ideal has some listed too but you have to search through their site. It's does not have the best ui.

Not trying to attack you btw. Like with horses, if the lineage isn't proven then it's just basic. Hopefully all these comments will help others in their selection process. We learn everyday. I learned some new stuff today too.

Ideal doesn't carry lavender silkies

The chick stick treat things are not worth getting.
They are probably a gimmick, but they may actually be harmful.

Try reading the nutrition label on the chick starter, and then on one of those treats. The treats are usually very low in protein, which makes them a bad choice for young chicks that are growing fast! They need to grow their bodies and also feathers (which are made of protein as well), which is why chick starter is made with more protein than most other chicken foods.

(No matter what the front of the package says about it being "healthy" or "nutritious" or anything else, read the actual guaranteed analysis to know what it really provides.)

Update: The seller emailed me a day ago (nearly 2 weeks after all of this happened) apologizing, asking which chicks are still alive, giving the impression that they want to send me replacement ones. The thing is, I already got one from a local lady, which puts me at two chicks, and if they send me more, I'm assuming 3 would be the absolute minimum for shipping...which would be 5 chicks- too many chicks for my current coop. It's is a little tiny one, I'm working on getting someone to build me a good sized one but I don't wanna commit to anymore chicks until that's set in stone. I did start a dispute on the charges though prior to them contacting me...but because I hadn't submitted my evidence they hadn't contacted the seller yet, I think....does anyone know if them having contacted me, ruin my chances of getting the charges disputed? Not sure what to do here....I really don't want anymore chicks from this person. Might just cut my losses.

You might ask for a refund, rather than replacement chicks.

I don't know what that does to the dispute process.
