I think I have a rooster! (Yes I’m happy) what do you think

I’m sorry the pics aren’t the greatest however I purchased 2 buff Orpingtons and the lovely lady did her best to sex n give me a roo. I think she did well lol. They are (not 100% as sometimes they sit in the bins longer than a day) about 3 1/2 weeks old...well let me just say I got them 3 1/2 weeks ago. Anywho about a week ago I noticed 1 started getting red comb and was standing taller strutting it’s stuff. So I looked at info on here and read these are common in this breed for a rooster characteristics. But usually don’t happen until about 4 weeks. So here are a face shot of summer I think is hen and winter (my mother named them) I think is rooster. And a difficult shot of them coming out of the house side by side. The one standing to right of waterer is the one I think is a rooster.

They are very cute. You may have a roo, but wait another couple of weeks. If it turns out you don't have one you could check your local animal shelter or try your own state's thread for a rooster that need to be re-homed.

Great idea! Although I have 4 straight run barnevelder s and 4 straight run barred rock all about a week so I may get a rooster in one of that 8 lol they are all dual purpose so we don’t mind if we get extra roosters to eat later. I really wanted the bo to have a roo lol I’m weird probably I know but my thoughts were flock replenishing for the dual purpose and the bo hens make great mothers

The odds are in your favor with straight runs. I purchased 6 sexed pullets last year and one turned out to be a beautiful cockerel. I have 3 BR chicks now and at 4 weeks they seem to be all girls. They feathered out fast and lovely and since I turned off their brooder plate yesterday morning they are much calmer now. One of them even sang a little song yesterday evening. So very different from my RIR's. Good luck with your wee ones.

I thought I would share this. This is my Randy at 4 weeks (the one in the front with his head lowered). I could tell he was a roo. He was shaped a little different from the pullets.
