I think my chick still has its umbilical cord/ membrane attached to it?? What is it??

I had a silkie chick that had that happen, it just dried up and later fell off sometime during the night. I kinda carried it around everywhere though instead of leaving the chick alone as it was the first one to hatch and kept crying for attention every time I put it down. :p

I thought it was a yolk sac at first, but it is the umbilical cord attached to the poop sac that is usually found on the pointy end of the egg.

LOL, I am guilty of that too! Just with the weaker ones I try to hold off a little while longer.

Big feet and big feathers. When I processed my extra roos I was expecting 8 pound birds, what I got was 3.5-4 pound birds.:he

I have one Delaware hen and she seems like a pretty big girl, I was tempted to butcher her along with our other older hens, but now that you say that I am glad we didn't. :D Plus I like her... a lot.

Sorry Briana, we kind of hijacked your thread talking about del's. Keep us posted on its progress. I'm hoping for the best.:love
