One girl didn't come home last night - and when I went out this morning, I found her quietly sitting in somewha an open spot - quietly.

When I went near here I thought she'd be sitting on an egg, but she wouldn't stand up, and I can hear a sort of gurgle when she breathes - and she's breathing weird, closing her eyes and going to sleep etc.

What do I do? Does it seem like this can be fixed? Should I put something in water and give it to her?

She's in shock. Put her in a warm, dry, dark place and leave her alone. When she seems stronger, look for wound and treat accordingly. Offer food and water when she's alert. Trying to force feed a weak chicken may result in death. In a veterinary situation, she would be placed in an oxygen cage, kept warm and in the dark, until she recovered enough to respond.

I had a bird with this prob. The owners were getting rid of her because she was sick and didnt feel like dealing with it. EERRGGG!!! anyway I broght her home put her in a nice cozy cage away from my birds obviously, gave her duramycin-10 for 5 days followed by 4 days of probiotics with ACV in the water and yogurt on the side. She turned out to be the most loving bird I have.. This is my experience maybe this will work for your girl.

I put her in the coop, in the corner in a nesting box. Thankfully the coop was just built and has all fresh shavings - and the other girls are out wandering around.

This particular chicken is one that came to me bald. Her skin turns bright pink and then back to white. She has a small hard bubble on her foot which she's had since I got her 2 months ago. Her feathers ARE growing back, but her body is still pretty bald - and OH SO HOT!

I have no idea what chicken skin normally looks like when a chicken is bald - but if I had to say, this one is not normal looking. She lays the BIGGEST eggs out of everyone, and hasn't seemed AT ALL sick.

I don't know a chicken vet - all I have is a horse vet. I suppose I should research this! Eeek.

She can move her wings - but seems to have trouble uncurling her feet from the laying position and just kinda goes to her side when I try. womp womp. Not how I wanted to start my day - but as bad as it is for me, I'm sure it's worse for her. =(

Can you tell me how to mix the Duramycin - 10? For one gallon how much do I put?

I can't figure it out to save my life.

Please research bumble foot. You need to treat that. She may have a raging infection that will need much more than Duramycin can provide. Please, remove her from the coop and take her inside as mentioned by theoldchick. If the other chickens find her and feel that she is a threat to their safety, they will kill her. I found this out the hard way. Chickens will peck weaker chickens to death in order to save the flock from disease. Don't let this happen to your girl.

Call your vet and find out if they know someone who will see chickens. In the meantime, follow theoldchick's advice.
