I think some of my birds have been found!!!

I dunno. I really think it was that nut that kept insisting I was not properly caring for my flock. I could speculate all day though about what happened and what didn't happen, but I'm just hoping that she realized that she's an idiot and turns in the rest of my birds. I'm really surprised that she got Sicily caged as he's one of the most hyper of the group.

They look fine. They don't look any worse for the wear. I let them roam the yard for an hour before they went in their house. My dad is coming over first thing in the morning to help me outfit the coop.

P.S. Hubby keeps hoping she'll come back and steal the guineas...

They will sound the alarm until you give them treats. Odd little birds.

If the lady you think took them thinks your set up is not good enough, what kind of set up does she have that she can't catch them! Doesn't sound too safe...

People these days. Hope you can get the rest

A lot of people watch those animal police shows on animal planet and get a bit carried away to say the least. Some people's hearts are bigger than their brains. I've seen many cases where people think they are "rescuing" an animal.

As speckledhen said, your birds may have been stolen and disposed of at the shelter under the guise of being an animal cruelty case. Or they could truly have been rescued from someone else as flakey chick pointed out. I have seen many idiots use animals as pranks, especially around Christmas, where the gift of a rooster can be seen as funny to some.

I would try to get the phone records and trace the call using a reverse search on whitepages.com. You may be able to get a name out of that. As far as evidence goes, you posted what you had and what you lost on this site, so that might help your case.

Fingers crossed hoping you get the rest of your birdies back.

One of my co-workers who also keeps chickens used to volunteer for the local SPCA. She said they got the weirdest calls about farm animals--complaints that ducks were being abused because they "only" had a pond and greens around them to eat (the ducks were brought indoors at night), complaints that female goats were being "abused" by the very presence of an un-neutered male billygoat (they had plenty of food, water, and shelter), etc. Mostly city folks who had never seen a chicken that wasn't already in McNugget form.

I would call the friend with the parrot rescue and ask her to give you a call if the lady calls her back to arrange another drop off.

When you get the call, grab you camera and head to the friends, park close to the friends house, but not close enough to draw attention.

Wait until this lady shows up with the birds and take a picture of her car tag and her if you can without being seen.

Don't confront her or follow her.
Turn it over to the police.

She could try to say she rescued them from someone else. then the police are going to ask to be taken to the site of the rescue, and to produce the people involved in the abuse.

Then you will have legal recourse.

If you can get her number, you can do a reverse search, like suggested. Then you can go get your bird maybe.

Good luck. I really hope the rest make it back to you.

I hope you at least called the police, though I imagine they won't take you seriously enough, as so many think, just buy another chicken!!! But it certainly can't hurt! Meanwhile what do you feel made the "rescue" happen in the first place and should it be addressed?
