I took the plunge!!! First chicks

I lost my first chick this morning. She was eating, drinking, pooping, hopping, & lively last night. I wish I knew what happened. 💔

I'm so sorry.... Sometimes, shipping stress is just too much for them, or they can just fail to thrive. I hate losing the littles.
:hugs

How are your other babies doing today? What kind of cute things do they do???
😊

I've always had EE and always will, I love them! They are calm and friendly, though not cuddly (I don't expect them to be). I also have, or have had: brown Leghorns (a little too panicky for me, but no predator ever got one, lol!), Black Australorps, and Buff Orpingtons (way too broody for my needs!). This spring I have ordered Cornish Rock Crosses, Black Copper and Blue Copper Marans (I covet some DARK brown eggs!) and some Speckled Sussexes for white eggs. Enjoy your chicken journey! ❤

Thank you :hugs it was surprising because she was one of my bigger chicks too.
So far everyone else looks perfect. The tips of their wings are starting to get tiny feathers and they've started scratching more. They've also managed to hop onto their brooder plate and poop on it  So now I'm just hoping everyone else stays healthy and happy :fl

Light cream I thought…anyone have Speckled Sussex eggs? We need a pic! 😂
Yes light brown/creme is what I thought. I have white leghorns & blue Andalusians, and also some light brown(tan) layers. There is a noticeable difference, and I didn't want you to be disappointed when your "white egg" layers " weren't laying.😋

Not my white layers! It was @BigBlueHen53 (I ordered Andalusians and Anconas for white eggs this year!) lol
