I wanna know all about ya'lls favorite bird!

My favorite BREED is (porcelain) d'Uccles. I have three hens and two roos, I love my girlies to death!!!! But they would all kill each other and me if I said I had a favorite. Girls will be girls I guess, so here's all of them:

Sophie (the original, now 3)

Temple (named for Temple Grandin, she's 7 months old)

Stoner Eyes (because as a chick her eyes were all droopy and she looked like she was well...stoned)

700

Stones Eyes is also 7 months old but about ⅓ the size of Temple.

Whenever I pick up one of them up the others beg to be held and then start fighting. I always end up with one in my lap and two on my shoulders.

Ahaha! So pretty! I may need one...

My BR Petrie we used to call "Stoner Chick" because she slept so much as a chick and would kinda stumble around a lot. She's totally fine now, we just figured she was still super young when we got her.

Can I have another favorite? I LOVE Naked Necks!!!! I don't care if some people think they're ugly, I think they can be really pretty. Plus, they're friendly and great layers. Actually, I have four full grown hens, but just hatched 4 chicks in some cool colors, because the Naked Neck trait is a dominant gene (Na) so I can use any rooster I want with my hens and get NN babies! :weee

Anyways, Wilhelmine:

ZaSu (after silent film Actress ZaSu Pitts, who was born in Parsons, Kansas. She always wore boas, and my mom thought the chicken's bowtie looked like a boa)

I love my Leghorn Daisy too, she is so pretty and doesn't have the nasty demeanor most people avoid them for, she is very sweet. I love when she comes out in the morning and her tail is all fanned out like a sail, and she's all erect and perky and strutting around the yard like the queen of Sheba....beautiful!

I adore all of my birds, so I have to choose the one who find me to be her favorite. Wilma, hands down. She's a Barred Rock, very personable breed, IMO... Since bitty chickdom, she has been my little buddy, paying very close attention to everything I do, and stars forbid that I pay too much attention to anything other than her...!
Here she is at about 1 week, looking very muppetlike, and very adventurous

a couple of weeks later and Wilma is quite chilled out, loving her home and her Mother

a few more weeks later and she realizes that she like me to preen her, she gets more chill out time...

she thinks "stink eye" will get her what she wants... it usually works, I'm a sap

probably 4 months old here, loves to roost in the big lilac hideout

nope, no privacy for Wilma, not even in the bath... that's what you get for making me love you so much...

she's still adventurous, she was the first on the new roost in the new enclosure

getting one of her "massages", she's been doing the squat for me during these sessions since she was 4 weeks old. She was the first to lay an egg out of 6 pullets of varying breeds, all the same age. a perfect small light brown egg, that was 3 days ago, hasn't missed a day since, little champion!

ahhh a sunbath! she's so pretty, her barring is lovely, her personality is very charming with everyone, even new people. she gets along fine with everyone, bird, cat, dog - although she is jealous of the dog and I often have to pet them both at the same time, my fiance finds this to be the most amusing thing ever.

my Wilma... what more can be said... I will always consider more Barred Rocks in the future. Wonderful breed...
