I want to raise the largest birds available??

Orpingtons should be heavier than any of the mentioned breeds, Malays are the tallest,

I also bought some of the buff orphingtons. I went through ideal hatchery standard breeds and ordered a variety of standards to see what I would wind up liking the best. I had only purchaced roos in the bramahs and giants though. Roos get much bigger than do hens right. I,m new to raising them.

Jersey Giants are considered the largest breed of chicken (per any research I have seen anyway). However, several breeds are really close (such as those listed). Of the LARGE breeds, I only have experience with the Jersey Giants. I LOVE them!!

My JG hens are bigger than my salmon Faverolle rooster (though he still prefers the JG hens over the ones his size.

). My JG roo is ginormous and he's not full-grown (they are very slow to mature!). And the temperament and personalities of the JGs is great! DH and I have decided that the JGs are definitely one of the breeds that will part of this family indefinitely!

are you freeranging or just using the run, cause if just using a run you could cover it and not worry at all, even just some fishing line no farther than 6 feet apart would keep hawks from being able to swoop in, so it does not have to be full netting (that is if hawks are the only issue you are having. This way you could choose any breed that you like. I feel like the light Brahmas are the biggest at least the appear that way cause they are a bit fluffier.

Standard Cochins and Langshans get pretty big also.

I have no idea what Nugget is but if you got a whole flock of these I bet you would not have a predator problem

I raised a Light Brahma roo and homed him to a lady that I ended up being quite good friends with. We named him Buddy. Buddy fought the coyote and Buddy WON!!!!!

RIP Buddy. He got bumblefoot and the bumblefoot won. He was a great roo though.

My blue Orp rooster is about 14 lbs with an 18" wide chest. He isn't as tall as a Langshan, but I bet he's as heavy.
