I will not go to tractor supply.

I love to have chicks. I have one rooster that is a Cuckoo Marans and two hens that I got at the local feed store. I also have an Easter Egger, two black Langshans, an Americana, and 3 that I have hatched from my rooster and the Easter Egger and Marans hens. A total of 10 grown chickens and 7 chicks that are a month old. I had more that I hatched but I promised my husband I would sell some. So I have sold 8 chicks in the last month on Craigs List. That way you can have fun when they are little then sell them. I get 5 eggs a day from my hens and give most away at church. Chickens are cool!!!

I am SOOO jealous! Here in Southern California NO stores have chicks due to Newcastle quarantine. Can’t get them by mail either. I drove an hour each way to get my first two pullets, then a neighbor wanted to rehome 2 of hers. Then I drove 1 1/2 hours each way to get 2 silkie chicks and 6 eggs to try to hatch. Only one made it, so I’m up to 7 total. Which I guess is enough, but to have a local supplier with lots of different breeds would be a dream! Until I’m out of space and still buying more, I guess...

That seems like it’s been a long time. Are they saying when the quarantine will be up?

They’re still finding new cases-6 so far this year. The last one in my county was August 2018, but abundance of caution and all that. There’s talk of allowing sales if the breeder can prove the chickens are disease free, but this is the USDA, and it could take a long time for them to come up with the regulations.

Not sure what I will do when everything need feed but I will be strong if I am force to go into the local TSC, I will not buy more chicks...

Well I don’t think I will,
I hope I dont
Maybe I won’t..
Whats wrong with Tractor Supply. My first 6 chicks, 3 Leghorns and 3 Rhode Island Red chicks were bought from there and theyre my best layers!

Life would be so bleak without our chickens. People who don't realize what wonderful personalities they do indeed have are truly missing out...and giving to others at church or our neighbors is the real blessing❣️

I have to go to TSC today. Praying I can get in and out without any fuzzies.

We got 24 eggs yesterday, and have been consistently getting WAY more eggs than we can eat for a long time. What we do is donate to our local veterans food bank. I can't stand to see even one egg go to waste, and it's a win-win situation for us to donate. Our veterans get nutritious farm-raised eggs, and nothing goes to waste! :) I'm about ready to make a run up there with probably about 20 dozen. :_
